Systematic analysis of the entrepreneurship ecosystem of health sports tourism (public): a scientometric review

Abstract
Objective: This study aims to explore the evolution of research trends, identify key publications, and assess international collaborations in wellness tourism research from 2000 to 2024 through a bibliometric analysis.
 Method: The analysis is based on 332 articles authored by 731 researchers from global institutions, published across 89 multidisciplinary sources. Metrics such as citations, document age, references, and international co-authorship were examined. Dominant keywords and emerging themes were identified to map research trends.
 Findings: The study reveals a 17.4% annual growth rate in wellness tourism research, indicating rapid expansion. Key metrics include an average of 26.94 citations per document, 27.41% international co-authorship, and 2.7 authors per article on average. Dominant keywords include "wellness tourism," "health tourism," and "well-being," while emerging themes like "sustainability" and "mental health" reflect a shift toward holistic approaches. Influential articles focus on tourist motivations, economic impacts, and destination development.
 Conclusion: Wellness tourism research is dynamic and rapidly evolving, with growing academic and industry interest. The findings highlight the importance of wellness travel for personal health, well-being, and sustainability, providing a roadmap for future research and development in this field.
