English

Objective:

Objective: The Iranian automotive industry faces multiple challenges in achieving sustainable innovation. This study aims to develop an organizational innovation model specific to this industry by identifying key factors, barriers, and strategies that enhance innovation performance.
Method: A qualitative research approach was adopted using semistructured interviews to collect data from twelve experts in the fields of innovation and the automotive sector. Participants were selected through snowball and purposive sampling methods and included highly experienced professionals with doctoral degrees. Data were analyzed through thematic analysis. To ensure validity, academic literature and expert opinions were consulted, and reliability was verified using the test–retest method.
Findings: The analysis revealed that innovation in the Iranian automotive industry is affected by a combination of economic, political, organizational, and marketrelated factors. Major barriers include weak organizational culture, lack of managerial and financial support, limited investment in research and development, and insufficient understanding of market demands. These challenges collectively hinder the development and implementation of innovative initiatives within automotive companies.

Conclusion: The findings suggest that fostering a culture of innovation, enhancing continuous training programs, investing in research and development, and promoting international collaborations can significantly improve innovation capacity. Moreover, improving policy frameworks and market conditions can accelerate the innovation process. Implementing the proposed organizational innovation model can help Iranian automotive companies strengthen their innovative performance and gain a sustainable competitive advantage.
